Women's health center in south Miami-Dade County, Florida

Through all the different stages of life, the women's services team at HCA Florida Mercy Hospital is committed to providing women with excellent medical care.

We understand your healthcare needs are constantly changing, so we offer comprehensive services to meet those needs. Our experienced, multidisciplinary team uses their many years of experience and the latest technology to diagnose and treat a wide range of women's health conditions.

Our women's health services

The women's specialists at our hospital provide a full spectrum of services in a comfortable and compassionate environment, including:

Bone density testing and osteoporosis care

Osteoporosis is a condition that causes your bones to become weak, which can increase your risk of breaking or fracturing a bone. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), osteoporosis is more common in women than men, affecting about 25 percent of women 65 years old and older.

Breaking a bone can be a painful and difficult recovery at any age, but it can be especially serious as you get older. That's why we offer bone density testing to detect osteoporosis in its earliest stages. When diagnosed early, we can help create a care plan to manage the disease and minimize your chances of fracturing your bones.

Risk factors for osteoporosis

Risk factors that increase your likelihood of developing osteoporosis include:

  • Being a smoker
  • Drinking too much alcohol
  • Eating a poor diet
  • Having a family history of osteoporosis and/or broken bones
  • Having a history of broken bones
  • Having a small frame and/or thin build
  • Having certain diseases and conditions, such as anorexia nervosa, rheumatoid arthritis or gastrointestinal diseases
  • Having low hormone levels
  • Leading an inactive lifestyle
  • Taking certain medications

Breast health

Breast cancer is a leading health concern for women, so we offer preventive and diagnostic breast health services. Our digital mammography services maximize accuracy to provide the highest quality of care in the prevention and early detection of breast cancer.

Our gynecology unit is staffed with gynecologists, obstetricians and other specially trained medical professionals who provide care for overall female health. Gynecology focuses on the female reproductive system and related conditions, such as incontinence, menopause, pelvic pain and gynecologic cancer.

Maternity services

Our maternity services team is here to support you and your growing family when you're expecting. We offer complete pregnancy care to help you and your baby stay healthy.

Prenatal and high-risk pregnancy care

Our goal is to provide exceptional prenatal care so you feel supported and prepared on your pregnancy journey. Should your pregnancy be considered high risk, our perinatologists work with you and your doctor to ensure complete care.

Additionally, we offer maternity tours and maternity classes on topics ranging from childbirth preparation to infant CPR.

Labor and delivery

More than 1,400 babies are born each year at our hospital. Our elegantly remodeled maternity wing offers private birthing suites and spacious, private postpartum suites with stunning views of Biscayne Bay.

Our specially designed birthing suites, also known as labor and delivery rooms, or LDRs, offer the latest technology to ensure the best possible experience with labor and childbirth for both you and your baby.

Postpartum care

Our team understands the importance of focusing on your and your baby's well-being after delivery. That's why we provide postpartum care for the duration of your hospital stay. Our team is here to support you, help you recover and answer any questions you may have. Our breastfeeding consultants are also available to help you with breastfeeding techniques, if you wish.

Even after you take your baby home, we're here to support you however we can.
