New surgical robots arrive at the hospital
The latest in medical technology has arrived at HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital. The hospital received two new surgical robots.
General surgeon, Wesley Hendricks, D.O., maneuvered the surgical robot through the front doors and along the hospital hallways on its way to the operating room.
Surgeons will use this for general surgeries like hernia, gallbladder, urology and women’s care.
Local orthopedic surgeons also unveiled the newest orthopedic robot. This is used for hip and knee surgeries. A room full of area residents got an up-close look at the new technology and learned how these are helping surgeons in the operating room. The robots don’t perform the surgeries but help surgeons make smaller and more precise incisions. That often means faster recovery, shorter hospital stays for patients, and the need for less pain medication.
