HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital is celebrating 1,500 robotic-assisted surgical cases by board certified, general surgeon Dr. Wesley Hendricks, D.O. Dr. Hendricks is using the advanced technology to treat hernias, gallbladders, abdominal conditions, reflux, and in general surgery cases.
With robotic-assisted surgery, the surgeon controls specialized instruments from a surgical console. The robot has multiple, flexible arms and the console provides the surgeon high definition views during surgery. For patients, the benefits are often smaller incisions, less pain, less time under anesthesia, shorter hospital stays and faster recovery time.
“This is an incredible milestone. I am especially grateful to our expert team in the OR, our providers and especially our patients who put their trust in us. The future of robotic technology is incredibly exciting, and there is so much that lies ahead with innovation and expanding access to advanced surgical care,” said Dr. Hendricks.
HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital continues to invest in technology, tools and expertly trained colleagues who provide advanced surgical capabilities and high quality care to the community.
