HCA Florida Venice Doctors Emergency collects food for community

HCA Florida Venice Doctors Emergency is collecting non-perishable food items to help the community this season. All the food collected will be donated to the All Faiths Food Bank. Between now and November 17, Venice area residents can bring their donations to the front lobby of HCA Florida Venice Doctors Emergency, located just south of Venice Avenue at 901 US 41 Bypass South in Venice, and drop them off in the collection boxes. The emergency room is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“Food insecurity is associated with increased risk for multiple chronic health conditions such as diabetes, obesity, heart disease, mental health disorders, and other chronic diseases,” said Paul Chupka, DO, Chief Medical Officer at HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital. “Our colleagues in the emergency room are bringing in donations themselves, and we encourage our neighbors in Venice to join us in helping feed our community,” added Chupka.

Representatives from All Faiths Food Bank say items most in need are: peanut butter, jelly, shelf-stable milk, beans, and canned meat such as tuna, chicken, or salmon.
