The 34-bed orthopedic care unit at HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital provides excellence in musculoskeletal care through compassionate teaching and therapy in a warm environment. Our experienced staff is fully dedicated to helping patients regain their mobility and independence.

Recognized as a Spine Center of Excellence (COE), we have a roughly 5:1 staffing ratio that allows for new hires to learn at their own pace. New hires also engage in a structured orientation based on individual needs, including turning of total joints, wound re-infusion, mobilizing, post-op care and ortho complications.

Services

Typically, we operate a combined unit of orthopedic, general surgery and oncology patients. Orthopedics primarily consist of elective total hip replacements, total knee replacements and spine surgeries. General surgeries include abdominal surgeries, thyroid surgeries and urological procedures.

We also offer additional special treatments, including:

  • Chemotherapy
  • CPM machines
  • Femoral nerve blocks
  • PCA pumps
  • Reinfusion systems
  • Surgical drains
  • Traction

A note from our director

Why do we love working in the Panama City area? The beach and warm weather! As you can imagine, we have great winters. The area has a more laid back pace, as well as in the hospital, but make no mistake, our education and technology are state-of-the-art.

I would categorize my personal management style as MBWA: management by walking around. I am passionate about teaching, with an emphasis on developing employee potential and growth.
