HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital and St. Petersburg Police Department successfully host DEA's National Drug Take Back Day
St. Petersburg, FL — This past April, HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital proudly co-hosted the DEA's National Drug Take Back Day alongside the St. Petersburg Police Department. We are thrilled to announce that we collected over 78 pounds of unused or expired prescription drugs, helping to keep our community safe and drug-free.
"Our commitment to the well-being of our community is unwavering," said Brent Burish, chief executive officer, HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital. "Events like the Drug Take Back Day are crucial in preventing prescription drug misuse and ensuring a safer environment for all. We are grateful for the partnership with the St. Petersburg Police Department and the community's active participation."
The DEA's National Drug Take Back Day is a biannual event that aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications. Since its inception in 2010, the initiative has successfully removed millions of pounds of prescription drugs from circulation, reducing the risk of misuse and overdose.
For those who were unable to attend but still have drugs to dispose of, year-round disposal sites are available. You can find more information at PharmaxReturns.com.
