Port St. Lucie, FL — HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital is just three months away from welcoming the first births in its new purpose-built Labor and Delivery expansion in the North Tower of its campus that has served the St. Lucie and Martin County communities with distinction for more than four decades.

This two-story investment strengthens the hospital’s ability to care for at-risk mothers and babies with the area’s newest NICU. It will open in December as Level II and is expected to be verified for Level III status in early 2026, being able to provide comprehensive services to all premature babies.

“We’re proud to be a destination of choice for Women’s Care services on the Treasure Coast,” said Corey Lovelace, chief executive officer of HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital. “This investment underscores our commitment to providing the safest, most capable and most comfortable place to have a baby in our region, and we’re excited to deliver the highest quality of care for more families with this expansion.”

The new Women’s Care area will also feature eight deluxe Labor and Delivery rooms, two OB operating rooms and three OB emergency rooms, providing a spectrum of advanced care from admission to recovery and discharge. The new space is also being built with family support, comfort and caregiver connectivity in mind with parent sleep spaces, lounges and infrastructure to improve staff cohesion and efficiency.

“For our teams, Care Like Family is more than a motto, it’s how we approach each patient encounter. The layout of this floor, and the renovation of our existing Labor and Delivery space next year, will allow our teams to support and comfort mothers and babies better than ever before,” Lovelace said.

Below the fifth floor Women’s Care area will be dozens of new Medical/Surgical beds to provide more recovery for the hospital’s rapidly growing services. The new fourth floor of the North Tower will also feature a Graduate Medical Education workspace supporting the hospital’s two residency programs.

Just north of the hospital, work is rapidly progressing on the six-story parking garage that will provide 661 spaces for colleagues in early 2026, freeing up the most convenient spaces in the parking lots for patients and visitors. The garage will feature dedicated EV charging spaces and security features to provide a reliable, safe and more sustainable place to park for caregivers.

The expansion projects, including the newly opened HCA Florida Stuart Emergency at 2551 S. Kanner Hwy, Stuart, FL and the Tiffany Avenue Medical Park, across the street from the main hospital, providing offices for family practice, cardiology, pulmonary, vascular and orthopedics providers and their patients, represent a total of $179 million in capital projects to improve patient access to HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital’s caregivers and facilities since 2023.
