Physician recognized for community service and work in the OR
On most Friday nights, you’ll find orthopedic surgeon Daniel Lamar, M.D., on the sidelines of the local high school football fields. He donates his time as the team physician for Manatee High School in Bradenton and also serves Cardinal Mooney High School in Sarasota. He’s there to ensure local football players stay safe and to respond immediately to any potential injuries.
When he’s not on the field, Dr. Lamar is a busy orthopedic surgeon treating student-athletes and adults throughout the area. Many of his patients come to HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital, where surgical nurses recently nominated him for Physician of the Month. The award honors physicians who make a significant impact on the lives of patients and colleagues at the hospital.
“Dr. Lamar is an exceptional orthopedic surgeon whose dedication extends far beyond the operating room. His time, patience, and genuine care for both his patients and colleagues set him apart. He brings a calm, compassionate presence to every interaction and continuously demonstrates a deep commitment to our hospital and the community we serve,” said surgical nurse Kristen Lake, RN.
Upon receiving the award from hospital Chief Medical Officer Paul Chupka, D.O., Dr. Lamar remained humble, saying he’s happy to serve the community and work alongside the team at HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital.
