Tampa, FL — On Friday, June 14, 2024, HCA Florida Pasadena Hospital hosted the Job, Education & Training (JET) Career Camp offered by Goodwill Industries. This camp offers local students’ insights into potential career paths, empowering them to make informed decisions about their post-high school futures.

The hospital's partnership with Goodwill Industries and its Project Search and JET programs reflects Pasadena Hospital's commitment to students and adults facing learning difficulties or career obstacles. Goodwill and HCA Florida Healthcare are working to create a more inclusive and prosperous workforce.

"The camp is crucial because it provides dedicated time and access to each student, who may otherwise not understand what going to 'work' and having a 'career' is all about," said Robert Batista, manager of community employment initiatives at Goodwill. "It's especially important for these students to learn about jobs in the healthcare field, as this sector offers a wide range of career opportunities that are both in high demand and essential to the community."

Batista continued, "Understanding the various roles within healthcare can inspire students to pursue rewarding and stable careers that make a significant impact on people's lives."

Pasadena Hospital currently employs multiple graduates of Goodwill’s Project Search initiative, which aims to place adults in permanent positions following a brief internship.

“By exposing students to the diverse career opportunities within the healthcare field, we hope to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals who will make a lasting impact on our community,” said Alyssa Clementi, director of communications and community engagement, HCA Florida Pasadena Hospital.

The JET program is operated and managed by Goodwill-Suncoast in partnership with the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, Marion and Pinellas County schools and host sites.
