HCA Florida Hospitals raise the flag to honor Donate Life Month.
Pasadena and St. Petersburg Hospitals will raise the Donate Life flag on April 16.
Tampa, FL – HCA Florida Pasadena and St. Petersburg Hospitals are proud to announce a special Donate Life Flag Raising Ceremony to honor the selfless generosity of organ donors and celebrate the lives they've saved. The event will take place on April 16 at 3:30 p.m. at HCA Florida Pasadena Hospital.
This meaningful ceremony aims to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation and transplantation while recognizing the heroes who have given the gift of life and the courageous recipients whose lives have been transformed through transplantation. More than 100,000 Americans are awaiting a life-saving organ transplant. More than 5,100 of those individuals reside in Florida.
During the ceremony, attendees will have the opportunity to hear inspiring stories from organ recipients and families of donors, highlighting the profound impact of organ donation on individuals and communities. In addition, a symbolic flag-raising will take place to commemorate the spirit of generosity and hope embodied by organ donors and recipients.
"We are honored to host this Donate Life Flag Raising Ceremony to pay tribute to the incredible individuals who have made the decision to donate organs, tissues, and eyes, offering hope and healing to those in need," said Dr. Ron Rasmussen, chief medical officer, HCA Pasadena and St. Petersburg Hospitals. "Their altruism and compassion are a testament to the power of humanity to make a positive difference in the lives of others."
