HCA Florida Healthcare hospitals provide mental health workshop for Girl Scouts parents
In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, HCA Florida Largo Hospital and HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital have proudly partnered to support the emotional well-being of middle and high school girls by providing a special educational session for the Girl Scout parents at Camp Wai Lani.
This collaborative initiative focused on equipping parents with practical tools to support their daughters’ social and emotional growth. Held during a Girl Scouts event at Camp Wai Lani, the session was designed to deepen understanding around the unique challenges young girls face as they transition into middle and high school, the importance of self-care and identifying burnout.
Led by mental health therapist, Ashley Aubin, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, the presentation addressed:
- Emotional and social developmental milestones in girls
- Signs of stress, anxiety, and how to offer support
- Importance of self-care and identifying burnout
- How parents and mentors can support their girls during transition into adolescence
- Resources available through HCA Florida Healthcare
“We are committed to supporting the whole health of our communities,” said Ashley Aubin, Manager of the Behavioral Health Outpatient Programs at HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital. “Mental health is just as vital as physical health, and we are honored to work with the Girl Scouts to empower families with this important knowledge.”
This partnership is part of HCA Florida Healthcare’s ongoing mission to provide comprehensive care and education to the communities it serves. Through outreach like this, the hospitals hope to build stronger, healthier futures for families.
