Alexa Mitzner, MD. I was born in Brooklyn NY, where I lived until I was 9 years old. I then moved to Ecuador, where I grew up surrounded by my culture and family. I completed the remainder of my education in Ecuador, including 7 years of medical school. My mom worked in the United States while I was in medical school in Ecuador so that she could pay for my education. The year I graduated from medical school, mom suffered from a brain aneurysm which required immediate surgery and rehabilitation
