Imaging services

Imaging services refers to the performance of imaging exams for better visualization and treatment of medical conditions. Different exams allow radiologists and physicians to view structures and activity within the body. Imaging exams are vital for diagnosis and there are a wide range of tests that can be performed.

Diagnostic imaging in Palm Beach, Florida

HCA Florida Palms West Hospital offers a wide range of advanced diagnostic imaging services to screen for, diagnose and even treat a wide variety of medical conditions.

We are an American College of Radiology Accredited Imaging Center for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, computerized tomography (CT), nuclear medicine and mammography. This shows we are committed to providing high-quality imaging and patient safety.

Our advanced medical imaging services

Some of the diagnostic imaging services we provide to adults and children include:

CT imaging

To provide you and your family with the best in imaging technology, we use an advanced CT scanner and software. This minimally invasive process offers impressive speed and accuracy and is ideal for cardiac procedures, such as CT angiography (CTA), for both arterial and venous blood vessels. By differentiating between the body's normal and abnormal structures, CT imaging can pinpoint areas which need a closer look.

We also offer pediatric sedation to help ease our young patients if needed.

Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) bone density testing

We use DEXA bone density testing to see if you have osteoporosis. By using the DEXA scanner on the hip, spine and/or forearm, we can check your bone density and see if you are likely to get fractures in other bones in your body.

Mammography

A mammogram is an effective screening tool for early breast cancer detection. During this non-invasive procedure, breasts are compressed between two firm surfaces to spread out the breast tissue. Then, an X-ray of the breast tissue is taken, so the images can be examined for signs of cancer.

The breast center at our hospital offers 3D mammograms, which result in sharper images and fast, accurate results.

MRI

Our high-definition MRI system captures detailed images. This system provides physicians with outstanding image quality and lessens the need for rescans.

Nuclear medicine

With the unique design of our advanced dual-head camera, we can see with greater accuracy than anyone could have imagined a decade ago. Formerly time-consuming studies can be completed in a fraction of the time, producing images that can make a life-saving difference.

Ultrasound

Our comfortable, private exam rooms and the latest technology make our hospital a great option for expectant mothers and other people who need ultrasounds. Our sonographers create images with clarity and detail for both adult and pediatric patients.

We also perform ultrasound-guided biopsy procedures in our dedicated women's health clinic.

X-ray

X-rays are used to collect pictures of bones, breasts and other parts of the body, using electromagnetic radiation.

For traditional X-rays, no appointment is necessary. You may bring your prescription to our main registration.

Our imaging center's amenities

Our hospital-based imaging center offers:

  • Convenient outpatient setting
  • Dedicated suite for vascular and peripheral vascular procedures
  • Easy, flexible scheduling of appointments seven days a week
  • Extended hours for select exams
  • Fast turnaround for exam results
