Student placement center
Oviedo Medical Center proudly supports the education of future healthcare providers through school affiliations that provide clinical rotations.
Oviedo Medical Center proudly supports the education of future healthcare providers through affiliations with multiple schools. We look forward to working with school faculty to help make student experiences more meaningful and educational.
Student placement process
Our student placement process follows four steps that are laid out as follows:
An affiliation agreement must be in place between Oviedo Medical Center and the school requesting clinical site placement. Students should not contact the hospital directly for placement. To inquire about initiating an affiliation agreement, please call (407) 890-2205.
A student placement request must be filed at least one month prior to the start of a clinical rotation, in addition to scheduling nursing school orientation. For questions about student placement requests, to schedule an orientation or to schedule a Meditech computer training class, please call (407) 890-2205.
All required student paperwork must be submitted at least two weeks prior to start of a clinical rotation. No student will be allowed to begin their rotation until the following forms are received and the student is cleared to begin the clinical rotation.
- Student record
Completed by an authorized representative of the school
- Statement of responsibility
Completed by the student
- Provider confidentiality and security agreement
Completed by the student
- Orientation self-learning packet post-test
- Student nurse self-learning packet post-test
Once the student is cleared for participation in clinical experiences, the following should be accomplished:
- Completion of Code of Conduct (usually at school)
- Six-hour nursing student orientation and computer training
- Badge creation, available by appointment only and calling (407) 890-2205
- Completion of Code of Conduct
- Badge creation in Human Resources, available Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm
Upon completion of your last day of rotation at Oviedo Medical Center, all students are required to return their identification badge to either Human Resources or Staff Development.
Nursing school instructor orientation information and materials
New nursing school instructors are required to be oriented to our facility and the nursing units on which they will bring student groups. We have developed a comprehensive orientation for instructors, as well as providing support for them to orient their students. All instructors are expected to complete the same self-studies that their students complete, and may contact Staff Development for further paperwork and instructions.
New instructors are also strongly encouraged to attend three days of our hospital-wide orientations, including clinical staff orientation, nursing orientation and Meditech training.
We are continually evaluating and improving our student process, but welcome and appreciate any and all feedback. Students and faculty are asked to complete an evaluation form at the end of their clinical rotations and return them to our Staff Development department.
