Alexis Brown
“I never thought growing up that I would have cats, dogs and chickens like I do and driving a big red-neck truck, but I never thought I would have breast cancer,” said breast cancer survivor and HCA Florida Brandon Hospital patient, Alexis Brown.
She is grateful for the care of plastic surgeon, Dr. Juan Socas and the team at Brandon Hospital through her breast cancer journey.
When Alexis saw a dimple in her left breast, she made an appointment with her primary care physician which led to a mammogram and breast cancer diagnosis.
She then decided to move forward with treatment including a double mastectomy, four rounds of chemotherapy and six weeks of radiation. Her husband and son, Ellis, have been an amazing support system to Alexis through her treatment. Her story is one that's connected her to hospital caregivers and lifted the spirits of patients and caregivers alike.
“Alexis is a dear patient to my heart. She is sharing her story and is positive with our patients. She inspires people to get all the help that they can get,” said Breanna Shannon, patient care technician at Brandon Hospital.
