HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital is proud to announce the opening of its new, state-of-the-art cardiac cath lab, making a significant investment in the future of cardiac care for the West Broward community.

A cardiac catheterization lab, or cath lab, is a specialized area where physicians use minimally invasive techniques to diagnose and treat heart conditions. By threading a thin, flexible tube called a catheter through blood vessels to the heart, physicians can identify blockages, restore blood flow, and perform life-saving interventions without the need for open-heart surgery.

The new cath lab is a significant win for HCA Florida Healthcare’s four Broward County hospitals, further enhancing the system’s network of cardiovascular services.

“By expanding our capabilities at HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital, we are strengthening our ability to provide comprehensive, coordinated cardiac care across the region, in partnership with our three Broward-based sister facilities, HCA Florida Northwest Hospital, HCA Florida Westside Hospital, and HCA Florida University Hospital.” Cory Mead, HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital CEO.

The hospital proudly welcomes Dr. Mohamed Osman as its new cath lab medical director. Osman brings more than 20 years of experience and a proven track record of clinical excellence, including leading the prior successful opening of a cath lab in the county.

“Dr. Osman’s expertise and leadership are invaluable as we launch this program”, added Mead. “We have set a clear vision for growth and ensuring our patients receive the highest level of care right here in our community.”

The hospital marked the milestone with a ribbon-cutting celebration joined by community leaders including State Senator Rosalind Osgood, Tamarac Mayor Michelle Gomez, the City of Tamarac Commission, local fire rescue agencies, the hospital’s Board of Trustees, and members of its medical staff.
