South Tampa Hospital Recognizes World Patient Safety Day
Tampa, FL — September 15, 2025 - HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital is proud to join healthcare organizations across the globe in recognizing World Patient Safety Day on September 17, a day dedicated to raising awareness and promoting actions that enhance patient safety worldwide.
This year’s theme, set by the World Health Organization, highlights the critical role of collaboration between patients, families and healthcare teams in delivering safe, effective care. At South Tampa Hospital, patient safety is at the core of every decision, from the use of advanced technology and evidence-based practices to ongoing training for physicians, nurses and support staff.
“Every patient who entrusts us with their care deserves to know they are in the safest hands possible,” said Dr. Guillermo Pierluisi, chief medical officer at South Tampa Hospital. “World Patient Safety Day is a reminder of the importance of teamwork, transparency, and a culture of safety that prioritizes patients above all else.”
As part of the recognition, South Tampa Hospital has launched a community awareness campaign highlighting the Hospital Safety Grade ‘A’ from the Leapfrog Group for four consecutive grading periods and 2025 Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence award. These honors demonstrate the hospital’s ongoing commitment to reducing risks, preventing harm and ensuring that every patient receives the highest standard of safe, compassionate care.
South Tampa Hospital encourages patients, families and community members to take an active role in their care by asking questions, sharing concerns, and partnering with healthcare providers.
