Phase I completion of $130 million in renovations celebrated by HCA Florida West Hospital
HCA Florida West Hospital announces that Phase I of its $130 million renovation project is complete and the hospital will celebrated with a ribbon cutting on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2005.
The areas that will be opening include a new Emergency Medical Services Lounge that will be stocked with food, beverages and other amenities to help serve our EMS partners who provide lifesaving care and transport of injured patients. Leadership from Escambia County Public Safety, Escambia County EMS, Santa Rosa County Public Safety and Lifeguard Air Ambulance and Escambia County Commission Chair Ashley Hofberger will be on hand to help open the EMS Lounge.
Following the ribbon cutting for the EMS Lounge will be ribbon cuttings for the ICU waiting room, lab breakroom, imaging breakroom, new imaging room and two new private rooms in the labor and delivery unit for new parents and babies.
“At the beginning of this year, we opened our new 600-space parking garage and announced our $130 million renovation project at that time,” said HCA Florida West Hospital CEO Karl Leistikow. “Today we begin to see the fruits of that investment – improved areas for our healthcare partners, renovated waiting rooms for our patients and their loved ones, and new patient care and treatment areas.”
Phase II Renovations Planned
In Phase II, HCA Florida West Hospital will complete a $18.4 million emergency room consolidation and renovation that will streamline services and create a more modern, efficient environment for care; a $5 million labor and delivery unit investment to support expectant mothers and their growing families; a $22 million operation room expansion that will add two new operating rooms and expand the post-surgical unit, ensuring the surgical needs of our community are met; a $22.5 million Rehabilitation Center renovation that will add 12 patient rooms and convert existing rooms to private rooms; and create a state-of-the-art space for recovery of patients. Phase II of the renovation project is expected to be completed in stages during 2026.
“As our 50th anniversary year comes to a close, we are excited by the investments we are making that will be the foundation of what we will be able to offer the community over the next 50 years,” said Leistikow. “HCA Florida West Hospital is a vital economic engine that helps drive the growth and prosperity of our community — in terms of jobs created, capital investment, opportunities to recruit and train new workers, and above-median wages. This investment into HCA Florida West Hospital shows that HCA Healthcare sees incredible value in the future of our community.”
