Adding more robotic surgery options at Oviedo Medical Center

Oviedo, FL — Oviedo Medical Center, part of HCA Florida Healthcare, is leveraging additional advanced technology options in its ongoing drive to provide the highest quality of care to its patients. This week, the hospital introduced a new robotic surgical platform to support urology, gynecology, thoracic and general surgery patients.

“The arrival of the Da Vinci 5 surgical platform at Oviedo Medical Center is more than just a technological upgrade — it’s a transformative step forward in surgical care for our community,” said Dr. Chris Bryant, gynecological oncologist. “With enhanced 3D visualization, greater precision and new technology that allows us to actually sense pressure and resistance during surgery, we’re able to perform minimally invasive procedures with more confidence and control than ever before. These advancements mean smaller incisions, faster recoveries, and better outcomes for our patients.”

The hospital unveiled the new robotic system Wednesday at an open house for community partners and leaders. Since 2018, Oviedo Medical Center has performed more than 5,400 robotic procedures to treat patients with a wide range of health issues, including more than 1,200 procedures last year alone. The hospital has three other robotic systems in addition to the newest one, which has been used for nearly 70 procedures since late April.
