Fourteen Osceola County high school graduates will start their pursuit of a healthcare-related degree with a leg up, after receiving the HCA Florida Healthcare – Healthier Tomorrows Scholarship. Two local HCA affiliates — HCA Florida Osceola Hospital and HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital — awarded a total of $15,000 in funds to students through the scholarship. The funding increased from last year’s award of $10,000 in an effort to support more students.

Both hospitals are part of HCA Florida Healthcare, a leading network with more than 650 sites of care throughout the state. HCA Florida Healthcare contributed the funds through the Education Foundation of Osceola County’s scholarship program, which awarded $1.1 million to local graduates.

“HCA’s mission is to "Above all else, we are committed to the care and  improvement of human life", and we can’t wait to see how these outstanding students carry out that mission throughout their careers,” HCA Florida Osceola Hospital CEO David Shimp said. “We wish them the best and hope that the HCA Florida Healthcare – Healthier Tomorrows Scholarship lets them know that they have partners supporting them along the way.”

In 2023, HCA Florida Healthcare supported more than 1,000 charitable organizations. The organization contributed $1.6 million to community partners, while logging 29,000 hours volunteered.
