In recognition of World Cancer Day, HCA Florida North Florida Hospital is highlighting the critical importance of early lung cancer detection by offering affordable screening options through its outpatient imaging center, HCA Florida North Florida Invision Imaging. Throughout 2026, the hospital will provide $99 self-pay lung cancer screenings during the months of February, May, August and November.

"Lung cancer is often diagnosed at advanced stages," said Dr. Michael Jantz, interventional pulmonologist at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital. "Because of this, treatment options are more limited, and the chance of cure is significantly decreased. Early detection through annual screening allows for timely intervention and potentially curative treatment, leading to a much higher chance of long-term survival."

Low dose computed tomography (LDCT) is the only recommended screening test for lung cancer. During an LDCT scan, patients lie on a table while a CT scanner uses a minimal amount of radiation to create detailed images of the lungs. The screening takes only a few minutes and is completely painless.

The $99 self-pay lung cancer screenings are available at HCA Florida North Florida Invision Imaging, located at 6605 NW 9th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32605. A physician referral is required to schedule this screening.

To schedule an appointment, call (352) 333-4703.
