Physicians arriving to work at UCF Lake Nona Hospital this week are being greeted with a special “thank you” – the main corridor filled with 120 pieces of artwork created by students at Laureate Park Elementary School.

“It really warmed my heart,” said Dr. Steve Pierre, chief of staff, UCF Lake Nona Hospital. “When you come in so early in the morning, to be welcomed this way is really wonderful.”

The display was created by Laureate Park students in observance of National Physicians Week March 25 – 31, a time set aside to honor the healers dedicated to the art of medicine throughout the nation.

“Our students and staff are so grateful for the doctors at UCF Lake Nona Hospital,” said art teacher Lori Daly with Orange County Public Schools. “They are such an integral part of our community, and the students are excited to honor them with their unique works of art during National Physicians Week. We believe art helps communities thrive.”

UCF Lake Nona Hospital celebrates the more than 600 members of its medical staff throughout the week, including on National Doctors Day March 30.

“During National Physicians Week, we recognize the remarkable difference our physicians make in the lives of our patients each day. Their skill, dedication and compassion save lives and improve the health of our community,” said Wendy Brandon, chief executive officer, UCF Lake Nona Hospital. “We are honored that these young members of our community - some who may be physicians themselves someday – joined us in sharing their gratitude for our physicians who provide exceptional, patient-centered care to everyone they serve.”

The National Physicians Week “Thank You” art will be displayed at UCF Lake Nona Hospital through the beginning of next week. The hospital team also engages with local schools and students through Mini Medical University healthcare education days, Stop the Bleed training classes for high school students, healthcare career explorations with local Boys & Girls Clubs, and hosting CareerSource Central Florida’s High School Career Express workshops.
