HCA Florida Largo first in Pinellas to perform minimally invasive aneurysm care
HCA Florida Largo Hospital has become the first hospital in Pinellas County to successfully perform a thoracoabdominal branch endoprosthesis (TAMBE) procedure, a groundbreaking minimally invasive treatment for patients with complex aortic aneurysms. The procedure was led by Dr. Christiano Caldeira, cardiothoracic surgeon and Dr. Jesse Klein, interventional cardiologist, bringing advanced, lifesaving care to patients in our community and across Florida.
The procedure offers new hope to patients who previously had limited treatment options. By using an endovascular approach, surgeons can repair life-threatening thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms with less trauma, faster recovery times and improved outcomes compared to traditional open surgery. Thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms are often difficult to treat due to their location in the aorta extending from the chest to the abdomen.
“Performing the first TAMBE procedure locally is a milestone not only for our hospital, but for our entire community. It demonstrates our commitment to providing cutting-edge, high-quality care” shared Dr. Caldeira.
“This innovative procedure allows us to expand the range of patients we can help,” said Dr. Klein. “It’s exciting to be able to offer advanced cardiac care right here in Pinellas County without patients needing to travel outside the area.”
HCA Florida Largo Hospital is a leader in advanced cardiovascular care with a continued focus on investment in state-of-the-art technologies and innovative procedures to ensure patients have access to the latest medical advancements.
