Landon Smith named chief executive officer of HCA Florida Putnam Hospital

New CEO, Landon Smith, to oversee 99-bed acute care hospital in Palatka.

Palatka, FL — HCA Florida Healthcare announced today the appointment of Landon Smith as chief executive officer of HCA Florida Putnam Hospital, effective September 2, 2024. In his new role, Smith will oversee the 99-bed acute care hospital in Palatka, which has served the community for more than 50 years. Smith has more than a decade of experience in healthcare, having served in various leadership roles at HCA Healthcare, and grew up in the Putnam County area.

Smith most recently served as the chief operating officer at Trident Medical Center, a 302-bed facility located in Charleston, South Carolina. While at Trident Medical Center, Landon was responsible for overseeing and spearheading the growth of numerous service lines including trauma, cardiac, neurology and oncology. In addition, Smith led the hospital’s $75 million construction and capital renovations including expansions of the operating room, catheterization laboratory and parking, and opened the James Island freestanding emergency department.

Smith previously served as the chief operating officer at Parkridge Medical Center and Parkridge West Hospital, a 193-bed facility in HCA Healthcare’s Tristar Division. In these roles, Smith oversaw the operations of surgical services, radiology, laboratory, plant operations, and several ancillary departments. Smith led countless initiatives and facilitated growth of numerous service lines.

In addition, Smith has served as the associate administrator for HCA Florida North Florida Hospital where he played an integral role in supporting and accelerating the hospital’s growth agenda and employee engagement. Smith started his career with HCA Healthcare at Memorial Health in Savannah, Georgia, in strategic development roles.

Smith holds a Master of Health Services Administration from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Georgia, and a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences from the University of Georgia.
