HCA Florida Lehigh Hospital has expanded its surgical capabilities with the addition of the newest generation da Vinci® 5 state-of-the-art robotic surgical system, offering patients smaller incisions, faster recovery times, and enhanced precision for complex procedures. This addition is part of HCA Florida Healthcare's ongoing investment in our hospital and community. HCA Florida Healthcare has invested $3 million in this innovative technology, facility enhancements, and resources to support this service- a reflection of our commitment to ensuring our caregivers have the tools they need to deliver exceptional care.

Paige Laughlin, CEO of HCA Florida Lehigh Hospital said, “Our focus has always been to provide high-quality, patient-centered care. We're elevating the standard of care by investing in this latest generation of minimally invasive surgical technology, equipping our physicians with the tools to deliver exceptional outcomes, and expanding the level of care available to patients right here in their own community.”

The hospital recently unveiled the $3 million technology, celebrating with an open house for staff to explore, followed by immersive education events with Gateway High School’s Medical Academy students, and Riverdale High School’s STEM students. Surgeons, Dr. Steven Siegal and Dr. Joseph Yurich walked students through a hands-on simulator and learned how robotic-assisted surgery is transforming patient care across multiple specialties.

As part of the experience, students helped name the robot, selecting “LeRoi Genesis” — a name symbolizing Lehigh, Robotics by Intuitive, and new beginnings. The future of surgery is now in Lehigh with the world’s most advanced robotic surgery technology.
