HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital honors first responders during National EMS Week
HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital and its three freestanding emergency rooms (HCA Florida Tamiami Trail Emergency, HCA Florida Cape Coral Emergency, HCA Florida West Fort Myers Emergency) are proud to join the nation in celebrating National Emergency Medical Services Week, recognizing the dedication, sacrifice and life-saving work of first responders and EMS professionals who serve our communities with unwavering courage and compassion.
To honor these everyday heroes, the hospital and its freestanding locations are hosting a week-long series of events to express appreciation for local paramedics, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), firefighters and other emergency personnel who are first on the scene in moments of crisis.
“Our first responders are our partners and the backbone of emergency care,” said George Ruggiero, DO, chief medical officer at Fawcett Hospital. “They work tirelessly - often in unpredictable and high-stress environments - to save lives and provide critical care when it’s needed most.”
National EMS Week, first authorized by President Gerald Ford in 1974, brings together communities and medical providers to honor the lifesaving efforts of EMS professionals nationwide.
Fawcett Hospital encourages all community members to take a moment to thank first responders for their service.
