Brandon Regional Hospital will close its inpatient behavioral health program, effective Monday, June 14, 2021. Patients needing these services will be transitioned to the newly renovated and expanded behavioral health service at Memorial Hospital of Tampa’s Tampa Community Hospital campus.
“We remain committed to providing high quality care to our community every day,” said Bland Eng, CEO of Brandon Regional Hospital. “This move will allow patients needing inpatient psychiatric care to receive it in one of the area’s largest and most comprehensive centers, dedicated to providing patients with the full range of behavioral health services.”
Memorial Hospital of Tampa invested $25 million to expand and renovate psychiatric services at its Tampa Community Hospital location. Phase I opened in May 2021 and included private room additions and renovations. Phase II, to be completed later this summer, will bring the program’s bed total to 84, including 68 behavioral health beds and 16 substance abuse beds.
Brandon Regional Hospital will use the additional space on its campus to support adult services until the hospital’s new three-story patient tower opens in 2023.
