High School seniors from across East Hillsborough County are encouraged to apply for six scholarships, one HCA Florida Brandon Hospital and Physicians Healthcare Scholars Award and five HCA Florida Brandon Hospital Healthcare Achievement Awards.

The HCA Florida Brandon Hospital and Physicians Healthcare Scholars Award is a highly competitive $20,000 scholarship and is jointly funded by HCA Florida Brandon Hospital and the medical staff. The five HCA Florida Brandon Hospital Healthcare Achievement Awards are $1,000 scholarships.

These scholarships are for high school seniors attending school in East Hillsborough County who have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 and plan to major in healthcare at the University of South Florida. Students from about 30 public and private high schools, or home-schooled students applied for these scholarships in 2024 and it was a highly competitive group of candidates.

“Last year, we were so moved by the essays submitted by seniors. Their powerful stories of seeking more equity in care decisions, wanting to push the limits of technology and providing empathy and care to patients touched us. We look forward to reading the essays from applicants this year, hearing the “why” fueling their passion to pursue an occupation in the healthcare field,” said Dr. Anjan Shah, orthopedic surgeon at HCA Florida Brandon Hospital.

The high school seniors who are awarded these scholarships will have the qualities that align with the values of HCA Healthcare. “Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.”

The deadline for applying for these scholarships is January 31, 2025. Apply for scholarships at https://bit.ly/42441u7.
