Brandon Hospital responds to need for grief support groups
Brandon Hospital provides donation to Bereaved Parents USA.
HCA Florida Brandon Hospital donates $1,500 to Bereaved Parents USA, a local non-profit charity (501c3) organization that supports parents, grandparents and siblings who have lost a child.
“We were elated to receive this donation from HCA Florida Brandon Hospital. We are so thankful to have a safe space to meet and receive this support to help with our annual events. We host an annual Butterfly release in May and a Candlelighting Service in December,” said Lori Scagg and Debbie Nemitz, co-chapter leaders of Bereaved Parents USA Tampa Bay.
“It’s so important for families to have people and a place to turn during their time of grief. The leaders of BPUSA Tampa Bay have experienced the death of a child themselves and their friendships and companionship helps others cope with their own loss,” said Dr. Christine Van Cott, Chief Medical Officer at Brandon Hospital. “I am proud to be a part of this hospital team that continues to support our community throughout every families’ experiences.”
This organization hosts a self-help, grief support group the last Thursday of every month at Brandon Hospital, located at 119 Oakfield Drive, Brandon, FL. If you or someone you know has suffered a loss and needs grief support, register for this support group.
