HCA Florida Northside Hospital expands heart services with opening of new state-of-the-art catheterization laboratory
St. Petersburg, FL — HCA Florida Northside Hospital is proud to announce the opening of its third cardiac catheterization laboratory (cath lab), a major step forward in expanding access to advanced heart care for the community. The addition of the cath lab space will allow our physicians and specialized teams to perform up to 2,000 more cardiovascular procedures a year.
The new room is equipped with the latest imaging and interventional technology that provides high-definition images which give physicians the capability for even greater accuracy.
“Our investment in this technology reflects our commitment to delivering the highest standard of cardiovascular care,” said Phil Marchesini, chief executive officer of HCA Florida Northside Hospital. “The new cardiac catheterization lab not only increases our capacity to serve more patients but also ensures that each patient benefits from the most advanced tools available in cardiac medicine today.”
Procedures performed in a cath lab include pacemakers, stents, heart ablation, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and mitral clip procedures that repair the mitral valve without open heart surgery.
With this latest technology, patients needing complex heart care have access to more accurate and targeted treatment, reduced x-ray exposure, and a shorter procedure time, minimizing recovery.
The first procedure has already been successfully performed in the new cath lab. Additional cardiac care space includes a hybrid operating room and an electrophysiology lab.
