HCA Florida Highlands Hospital is proud to participate in National Wear Red Day, joining millions of people across the country in support of the American Heart Association’s (AHA) efforts to raise awareness about heart disease and encourage healthy living.

National Wear Red Day serves as a visual reminder of the AHA’s mission to take down the leading cause of death in the United States. It encourages people to wear red to show solidarity in the fight against cardiovascular disease and to promote awareness of its risk factors, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and smoking.

“We are committed to helping our community take proactive steps towards heart health,” said Dr. Brian Triola, an interventional cardiologist affiliated with HCA Florida Highlands Hospital. “By participating in National Wear Red Day, we hope to inspire individuals to take action, such as knowing their blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. These are the daily wins that will keep our hearts beating strong.”

Additionally, HCA Florida Highlands Hospital chief executive officer David Was emphasized the hospital’s ongoing commitment to the community. “As a healthcare provider, we understand the importance of prevention, early detection, and intervention. National Wear Red Day is about more than wearing a color; it’s about bringing awareness to the fact that heart disease impacts so many lives. It is up to all of us to stay informed and make heart-healthy choices.”

Heart disease affects both men and women but is often preventable through lifestyle changes, diet, and routine health screenings. Understanding your personal risk level is the first step in prevention.

Residents are encouraged to visit the Cardiology specialty page at HCAFloridaHealthcare.com to take a free, confidential heart health risk assessment. For health questions or physician referrals, the community can also call the free Consult-A-Nurse line at (844) 70-NURSE (68773).
