Our senior mental health care services

Our goal is to provide you with support and coping strategies for the unique issues you face as you age. We do this through programs and services, such as:

Senior inpatient care

If you need ongoing monitoring and mental health care in a hospital setting, we provide that in our inpatient program. In these cases, you will have access to the following amenities so you can be comfortable throughout your stay with us:

  • Visitor quiet-room: The admission and intake process can be emotional for family members and caregivers, so we offer a quiet place for this vital step to take place.
  • Quiet activity room: Our quiet activity room gives our patients space to relax, meditate, read, talk quietly, complete crossword puzzles or play games.
  • Open nurses' station: Our open nurses' station allows our patients an opportunity to approach our team without barriers and interact with our staff.
  • Laundry room: Patients are encouraged to wear their own clothes, and we offer a laundry room to help keep clothing clean. Our team members will assist with patient laundry as needed.
  • Semi-private rooms: We provide our senior patients with semi-private rooms designed to meet their unique needs. Our semi-private rooms include:
    • Handicap-accessible bathroom and shower
    • Psychiatric-safe medical beds
    • Tamper-resistant light fixtures, plumbing fixtures and toilet accessories
    • Personalized door signs
    • Virtual bed monitoring using motion detection software around our patients' beds
  • Dining room: Our dining room is designed to encourage social interaction and a familiar feeling at mealtimes. We provide a variety of snacks and nutritional options.
  • Outdoor patio: Our large handicap-accessible outdoor area with a walking path is reserved for our senior behavioral health patients at dedicated times. We promote regular opportunities for fresh air and offer outdoor therapy activities on our patio.

Senior outpatient programs

We offer two senior outpatient programs designed for patients who do not require 24-hour inpatient care. These programs are:

  • Partial hospitalization program: designed for patients who would benefit from a highly structured intensive treatment
  • Intensive outpatient program: designed for patients who would benefit from more individualized attention than a routine outpatient program provides

Group therapy for seniors

We offer psychoeducational group therapy sessions seven days a week and tailor our topics and activities to meet our senior patients' unique needs. Our program is based in dialectical behavioral therapy, wherein patients are encouraged to replace negative thought patterns with positive ones.

We also use validation and reminiscence therapy to communicate with patients who have cognitive impairments. Topics and activities include:

  • Stress management
  • Grief and loss
  • Art, music and other recreational therapies

Telepsychiatry services for seniors

We now offer mental health assessments using telemedicine. This means a mental health professional from our campus can assess a patient at any of our satellite campuses by using audiovisual equipment.

Discharge planning

Upon discharge, our senior mental health specialists will recommend the best environment and treatment plan for your continued care. We will help you transition from inpatient or outpatient care back to your daily life.
