Services and treatments for cardiovascular conditions

We offer minimally invasive and advanced options for heart treatment, including:

Diagnosing heart and vascular conditions

Successful treatment begins with an accurate diagnosis. So, in addition to complete physical exams, we offer full-service imaging technologies to guide your diagnosis. For heart and vascular conditions, our physicians use specialized technologies, including:

  • Angiography
  • Cardiac catheterization
  • Echocardiography (echo)
  • Electrocardiography (EKG or ECG)

Electrophysiology (EP) services

EP studies can be used to both diagnose and treat issues of the heart's electrical system. When your heart's electrical system is not functioning correctly, your heart rhythm becomes irregular. These abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias), can lead to fatigue, dizziness, shortness of breath and heart attacks. In our EP department, we can determine the source of these symptoms and perform procedures to resolve some arrhythmias.

Cardiac catheterization

In our cardiac catheterization laboratory (cath lab), our heart specialists open narrowed or blocked arteries to restore normal blood flow. During these procedures, a physician will insert a catheter (thin, flexible tube) through a blood vessel using live X-rays (fluoroscopy) as a guide.

Our cardiac catheterization procedures include:

  • Angioplasty: opens blood vessels using a tiny balloon to compress the plaque against vessel walls
  • Balloon valvuloplasty: opens malfunctioning heart valves using a tiny balloon
  • Coronary atherectomy: removes plaque from vessel walls
  • Coronary stent: holds blood vessels open using a tiny, permanently implanted tube
  • Intravascular ultrasound: produces images of vessel walls using high-frequency sound waves
  • Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI): treats narrowing (stenosis) of the coronary arteries, either with or without a stent

Minimally invasive heart and vascular surgery

Our cardiovascular surgeons offer minimally invasive surgeries for many heart and vascular conditions. Potential benefits of these types of procedures include:

  • Less pain and trauma
  • Shorter hospital stay and recovery time
  • Smaller incisions

Cardiac rehabilitation

Our cardiac rehabilitation program is specifically designed to improve your health if you have a cardiac condition that may alter your daily life. It can be most beneficial if you have experienced a heart attack or other heart event or certain cardiac procedures, such as bypass surgery, stent placement or transplant.
