Inaugural class of a new cardiovascular disease fellowship begins
The inaugural class for the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship includes: Daniel Fabian, MD, from Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) in the Dominican Republic; Hanan Gruhonjic, MD, from the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida; and Ashot Minasyan, MD, from Yerevan State Medical University in Armenia.
Physicians accepted into the Fellowship will spend three years learning the latest techniques to prevent, diagnose, and manage cardiovascular diseases. Leading the program at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital is Dr. Rakesh Prashad, a professor and clinical researcher at UCF who is board-certified in Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Endovascular Medicine, Nuclear Cardiology, and Internal Medicine.
HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, which according to Healthgrades is one of the nation's 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals™, will accept three more Cardiovascular Disease Fellows in both 2026 and 2027 to reach the program's total of nine accredited positions. On July 1, HCA Florida Ocala Hospital will begin training 64 new residents across nine specialties, including Anesthesiology, Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, General Surgery, Surgical Critical Care Fellowship, and Transitional Year Residency.
