We know you may be wary about undergoing surgery, which is why we strive to offer the least invasive method so you heal as quickly as possible.

At HCA Florida North Florida Hospital, we offer a full range of surgical treatment including inpatient and outpatient, as well as minimally invasive and robotic surgery. The surgeons at our hospital offer many same-day procedures, so you can recover quicker and experience less postoperative pain. Our goals are always to restore your health while helping you heal quickly so you can get back to your everyday activities.

Surgical services we offer

In addition to general surgery procedures, such as appendectomies and hernia repairs, we also offer surgical care in a range of other medical specialties.

Bariatric surgery

Bariatric surgery, also called weight loss surgery, is an option for patients who are obese and want to undergo substantial weight loss. Our bariatric surgeons perform several weight loss procedures, including:

  • Adjustable gastric banding
  • Gastric sleeve
  • Gastric bypass
  • Gastric band over bypass

There are certain criteria patients must meet to qualify for bariatric surgery. Our staff helps each patient determine if they are eligible.

Gastrointestinal (GI) surgery

Our digestive health specialists offer surgical treatments for all types of GI conditions and disorders. We also surgically treat cancers affecting the GI tract, including colon, esophageal and liver cancers.

Our hospital is also home to the North Florida Endoscopy Center. This is a designated location where patients undergoing an endoscopic procedure for a GI condition receive dedicated surgical care.

Gynecologic surgery

Gynecology is a sub-specialty of women's care that focuses on the regular care and treatment of the female reproductive system. Certain conditions and disorders may require surgical treatment to correct, which is why we have a dedicated gynecologic surgery program.

We perform surgery to treat patients with endometriosis, gynecologic cancers, urinary incontinence and uterine fibroids.

Heart and vascular surgery

The Heart and Vascular Center is staffed with board-certified surgeons with expertise in performing a wide range of cardiovascular procedures. We offer common procedures, such as balloon angioplasty and stenting and advanced surgeries, including congenital abnormality repairs and valve replacements.

Neurosurgery

The Spine & Brain Institute of North Florida at our hospital offers patients access to surgical treatment options for neurological conditions. The brain and spine are delicate structures that require medical expertise and surgical precision. Our neurosurgeons offer high-level care in treating patients with conditions affecting brain function and spinal structure.

Orthopedic surgery

The orthopedic services at our hospital include a full range of orthopedic surgeries. We want to restore your quality of life by decreasing daily pain and improving your mobility.

In addition to total and partial joint replacement procedures, we also offer fracture repairs. Our orthopedists also collaborate with neurosurgeons to perform spine surgery.

Surgical oncology

Many patients with a cancer diagnosis will undergo surgery as part of their treatment. Our oncology services include a range of procedures to remove cancerous tumors and tissues or provide targeted radiation.

Robotic surgery

Robotic surgery is a type of minimally invasive surgery in which surgeons use robot-assisted technology to perform surgery. The surgeon remains 100 percent in control throughout the entire procedure. They benefit from increased visualization, specialized surgical instruments and enhanced precision through a robotic surgical console.

This type of surgery is an option for patients undergoing certain types of gynecologic, urologic and general surgery procedures.
