HCA Florida Blake Hospital honored Dr. Marc Kallins with a heartfelt retirement ceremony and the dedication of the newly named Dr. Marc Kallins Rehab Activity Room, recognizing his more than four decades of exceptional service to the hospital and the greater Bradenton community.

The celebration began with a ceremonial walk, where Dr. Kallins was escorted through a reception line of colleagues and friends, culminating in a warm welcome by hospital leadership. During the ceremony, CEO Steve Young delivered remarks highlighting Dr. Kallins’ extraordinary contributions to Blake Hospital. “Dr. Kallins has been an integral part of the Blake team for over 42 years,” said Young. “He is affectionately known as the ‘Father of Blake Rehab,’ and his legacy of compassionate care, leadership and mentorship has left a lasting mark on our hospital and community.”

Dr. Kallins was a driving force behind the development of one of the region’s most respected rehabilitation programs. His leadership helped lay the foundation for the hospital’s continued excellence in rehabilitative care. In a testament to that legacy, HCA Florida Blake Hospital was recently recognized as one of the top 10% of inpatient rehabilitation facilities (IRFs) in the United States by Netsmart Technologies, Inc. This is an honor the hospital has consistently earned, thanks in large part to the standards Dr. Kallins helped establish.

In addition to his role in the rehab unit, Dr. Kallins has served in numerous leadership roles at Blake Hospital, including chairman and vice chairman of the board of trustees, chief and vice chief of staff and chief of medicine. He has also been a dedicated educator and mentor through the hospital’s Graduate Medical Education program.

Beyond the hospital, Dr. Kallins has made significant contributions to the medical field and the local community. He founded Pinnacle Medical Group and Peninsula Medical Associates, served as president of the Manatee County Medical Society, and provided decades of care and consultation across Southwest Florida.

His accolades include being named Doctor of the Year at Blake Hospital, Doctor of the Day by the Florida Legislature and a Castle Connolly Top Doctor for over a decade straight.

In recognition of his enduring impact, the hospital unveiled a commemorative plaque and officially renamed the Coquina Room as the Dr. Marc Kallins Rehab Activity Room.

“On behalf of our entire HCA Florida Blake Hospital family, past, present and future, thank you, Dr. Kallins,” said Young. “Your vision, integrity and decades of care have transformed lives and will continue to inspire generations to come.”
