If our mission resonates with you, a rewarding volunteer experience awaits! At HCA Florida Northside Hospital, we are providing cutting-edge heart procedures, reducing the permanent effects of stroke and giving folks with orthopedic and spine problems new hope.

Our volunteer opportunities range from roles with direct patient interaction in nearly every area of the hospital, including our emergency room, to non-patient care areas, including the front desk, family waiting area and in support of our professionals in ancillary departments.

Benefits of volunteering

Research proves volunteers live longer and are healthier and  happier than people who do not volunteer. Student volunteers also earn better grades than their peers who don't volunteer. Additionally, at Northside, our volunteers receive a wealth of free health and wellness education, a free meal for each shift served and a free flu shot each year. 

Expectations of volunteers

HCA Florida Northside Hospital's volunteer program requires a weekly minimum commitment of four hours per week for six consecutive months (three for teens). We count on our volunteers being here as scheduled to provide our patients and guests with the best service possible.  We also expect our volunteers to be tested annually for tuberculosis (TB) and immunized for influenza.

How to volunteer

HCA- Florida Northside Hospital is accepting  new volunteers at this time and the following are required.

  1. If you are interested in volunteering at HCA Florida Northside Hospital, please notify the Administrator of Volunteer Services via email at: Michael.disalle@hcahealthcare.com.
  2. Upon receipt of that email, an interview will be set up and additional documentation will be sent to fill out
  3. Interviews are conducted at HCA Florida Northside Hospital located at:
    • 6000 49th Street North, St. Petersburg, FL 33709
  4. Please come professionally dressed
