24-year-old Derrel Kelley suffered a stroke earlier this year while training for the NFL combine. Derrel's mom found him unable to move or speak and called 9-1-1. When first responders arrived with the young athlete, our experts provided immediate stroke treatment and our neurosurgeon was able to remove the clot, helping Derrel regain both speech and movement. While his NFL future is uncertain, the football star remains hopeful he will someday be back on the field in some way or another and until then is sharing his story that stroke can happen at any age.
