Physical therapy and rehabilitation
Rehabilitation refers to the process of helping a patient recover from a serious injury or illness. Patients often have to regain strength and learn new ways of completing normal, daily activities. Our physical therapy and rehabilitation services
We believe in a total approach to rehabilitation, which includes a combination of therapies and techniques to help you get back your quality of life.
Inpatient rehabilitation
Our inpatient rehabilitation program offers comprehensive rehabilitation services for patients requiring a coordinated intensive therapy approach. We have 20 beds dedicated to our inpatient rehabilitation unit on the second floor of our hospital.
Our inpatient rehabilitation program
Our inpatient rehabilitation facility is designed to provide ongoing care so that you can recover from life-altering physical and neurological conditions. After your evaluation period, you, your family and your interdisciplinary team will establish a rehabilitation plan. Your schedule will include two or more therapy sessions for a minimum of three hours of therapy per day. This treatment plan may be reevaluated as needed.
Additionally, we facilitate team conferences where everyone involved in your recovery can get together, ask questions and make suggestions regarding your treatment. We also encourage family participation in program events, such as education, training sessions and recreational activities.
Inpatient rehabilitation admission
You may request your physician or caseworker initiate a referral to our program. Patients may also be admitted from home, assisted living facilities, doctors' offices, community skilled nursing facilities or after an inpatient hospitalization.
A rehabilitation specialist will perform an assessment before admission either personally, by medical chart review or both. You must be medically stable, willing and able to participate actively and responsive to verbal or visual stimuli. You must have a pre-morbid condition that indicates a potential for rehabilitation and a reasonable expectation for improvement.
Rehabilitative services are covered by Medicare and may be covered by other insurances if you meet admission criteria. To refer someone to our inpatient rehab, please call us at (941) 624-8070.
Outpatient rehabilitation
Our outpatient rehabilitation services allow you to recover at home and travel to our clinic for treatment sessions, which usually last between 30 minutes to an hour. Depending on your specific needs, your rehabilitation specialist will design a flexible plan to rejuvenate your physical capability, endurance, flexibility and strength.
Our outpatient rehab program also offers specialized services, including aquatic therapy, balance and vestibular rehabilitation and voice therapy.
Work-related injury recovery
If you are unable to return to work due to a work-related injury, we can help. We help patients with work-related injury complications, such as failed back syndrome, chemical dependency and severe deconditioning. Additionally, the interdisciplinary team from our occupational medicine program can evaluate your functionality and ability to return to work.
