St. Petersburg Hospital welcomes Major Matthew Furse to Board of Trustees

Furse has served the St. Petersburg Police Department since 2003 and currently commands the Special Operations Division.

St. Petersburg, Fla. HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital is pleased to welcome Major Matthew Furse to its Board of Trustees. A dedicated leader with more than two decades of law enforcement experience, Furse has served the St. Petersburg Police Department since 2003 and currently commands the Special Operations Division.

A St. Petersburg native, Furse began his career as a Patrol Officer and quickly rose through the ranks to Sergeant, Lieutenant and Major. His extensive experience spans Vice and Narcotics, Major Crimes (formerly Homicide) and Patrol Operations. 

As a member of the HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital Board of Trustees, Furse will play a leadership role in shaping the hospital’s strategic vision and identifying opportunities for the hospital to make a positive impact in the community.

Furse holds a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies from St. Petersburg College and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Homeland Security and Leadership Policy from Northcentral University.

He and his wife, Natasha, are proud parents to four sons: Jeremiah (20), Josiah (13), Jadon (12) and Jonah (7).
