Imaging services

Imaging exams allow radiologists (imaging specialists) and physicians to view structures and activity within the body. This is vital for diagnosis but also for treatment, to ensure your care plan is working as it should.

Imaging center in Bayonet Point, Florida

At HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital, we offer diagnostic imaging and minimally invasive procedures.

When you choose our hospital for your imaging procedure, you gain access to flexible scheduling options, valet parking and free copies of your imaging studies. We are also accredited by the American College of Radiology in nuclear medicine, scanning, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Our board-certified radiologists work with licensed technologists and other imaging specialists to make your experience as quick and comfortable as possible.

Diagnostic imaging services

When your doctor orders diagnostic tests to better understand your health, we have all the imaging technologies you need to receive prompt, expert diagnoses. Our medical imaging services include:

Computerized tomography (CT)

A CT scan is commonly used to examine the brain, chest, abdomen and pelvis. It produces a series of X-rays taken from different angles to create cross-sectional pictures of the body. Our hospital uses the advanced, 64-slice CT scanner, offering fast, accurate information. We use CT technology as a tool in cardiac surgical planning, biopsies, drain insertions and oncology interventions.

Fluoroscopy

Commonly referred to as a "live X-ray," fluoroscopy allows for the visualization of bones, organs and functions in the body through the use of a contrast agent. This form of imaging may be used in interventional and surgical situations. Fluoroscopy is useful in gastrointestinal studies, spinal procedures and joint exams.

Interventional radiology (IR)

This is an imaging subspecialty that focuses on image-guided treatments. Imaging techniques, such as CT, fluoroscopy and X-ray, are used to guide treatments and therapies to specific structures or areas in the body.

Our imaging department and Neuroscience Center collaborate to perform diagnostic testing in our state-of-the-art interventional radiology (IR) suite. The IR suite is equipped with sophisticated X-ray equipment. This allows our radiologists to view detailed, real-time images of the head, neck and spine when precision and time are crucial, such as when a stroke occurs.

The imaging team in our IR suite diagnoses and treats patients using advanced neuro-endovascular procedures such as:

  • Aneurysm coiling
  • Chemotherapy embolization
  • Chemotherapy port placements (used for infusion therapy)
  • Diagnostic angiogram
  • Endovascular intervention
  • Neurovascular angiography
  • Peripheral vascular angiography
  • Stroke interventions

MRI

This imaging tool uses a high-powered magnet combined with radio wave frequencies to produce images of structures within the body. We offer advanced MRI technology that allows us to create accurate, detailed images of the body, including the brain, spine and extremities.

Nuclear medicine

This type of imaging uses a specialized type of radioactive material that is detected by imaging technologies to visualize functions and processes within the body. Nuclear medicine is useful in visualizing diseases affecting the gallbladder, heart and thyroid gland.

Ultrasound

This procedure uses a transducer that emits sound waves in the body to produce images of internal structures and functions. It is a vital tool for evaluating internal organs, pregnancies, cancer, abdominal disorders, blood vessel conditions and pelvic disorders.

X-ray

This traditional form of imaging uses high-energy electromagnetic waves to produce detailed images of bones, soft tissues and organs.
