Each of our programs is staffed by multidisciplinary teams of licensed professionals. This includes psychiatrists, registered nurses, clinical social workers and dietitians. They will work together to help you.

Geriatric psychiatry

We are proud to host an inpatient senior behavioral health program in Aventura, Florida, at Sunrise Palms for Seniors. Our spacious 12-bed unit is located in its own discreet wing to ensure privacy, confidentiality and comfort.

Our program was designed with the unique needs and interests of patients 65 years old and older in mind. We help our senior patients cope with the behavioral health symptoms that are interfering with their daily lives.

Behavioral Health Mindfulness Programs (BHMPs)

Mindfulness is a psychological state of awareness. It's important to your mental health because mindfulness helps you gain awareness of your own thoughts, feelings, behaviors and bodily sensations. By helping you develop mindfulness, we can teach you to identify your triggers and develop effective coping skills to manage your symptoms.

Our BHMPs use an evidenced-based, multidisciplinary approach to help support this behavioral change and your lasting recovery from mental health conditions and addiction.

The BHMPs are offered in three "tracks," which run three days a week. The specific times for each of the tracks are as follows:

  • Blue track: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30am to 1:00pm
  • Green track: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30am to 2:00pm
  • Yellow track: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10:30am to 2:00pm

Addiction treatment program

Sunrise Palms provides a beautiful and unique treatment setting for anyone experiencing mood, anxiety or mental health disorders caused by addiction. To ensure you get all the care you need, your treatment will address issues related to psychiatric symptoms as well as alcohol and chemical dependency.

Our program incorporates the following components:

  • 12-step program education and meetings
  • Chemical dependency groups
  • Daily consultations with psychiatrist
  • Detox services
  • Discharge planning
  • Family therapy
  • Individual counseling
  • Medication management
  • Mental health groups
  • Recovery and sobriety groups
  • Psychiatric care and interventions
  • Psychological testing as needed
  • Information, referral and coordination with aftercare programs

Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)

Our mental health care unit offers ECT to people experiencing severe cases of depression or mood disorders. This treatment involves a brief electrical stimulation, and it is very safe as well as effective.

Mental health emergency care

As a designated Baker Act facility, our mental health care providers are specially equipped and trained to help individuals in need of emergency care. This includes temporary detention for mental health evaluation and treatment, on either a voluntary or involuntary basis.
