Physical therapy and rehabilitation

Rehabilitation refers to the process of helping a patient recover from a serious injury or illness. Patients often have to regain strength and learn new ways of completing normal, daily activities. Physical therapy, a branch of rehabilitation, focuses on building strength and mobility after disease, injury or surgery.

Physical therapy

Physical therapy assists in building strength to improve balance, endurance and function and decrease pain. Our physical therapists help patients with a wide range of conditions, including neurological and neuromuscular conditions. We also help patients undergoing surgery with preoperative and postoperative care.

Speech therapy

A certified speech-language pathologist provides speech therapy designed to help patients with deficits in speech, language, cognition and/or swallowing. In conjunction with our radiology department, we offer videofluoroscopic swallow studies. During this exam, the patient intakes a small amount of barium, and X-rays are taken of their upper digestive system. This allows us to see how the throat and esophagus react when a patient swallows food, which helps us better understand swallowing difficulties.

Referrals and admission

We work with our patients and their referring providers to provide individualized care.

Participating in our program

Our hospital accepts most insurances. Individuals requiring any rehabilitation treatment must be referred by a physician and have a signed prescription from that physician.
