Karleigh and Will

When Karleigh and Will welcomed their second child, they knew they wanted a personalized birth experience. Temporarily living near HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital for work, they were drawn to its reputation. What they found exceeded expectations — a team of caregivers who made them feel seen and supported every step of the way.

“We definitely wanted to deliver here,” Karleigh shared. “We heard great things about the staff and really focused our care around being at this hospital.”

From the beginning, the couple felt a strong connection with their caregivers. Will, part of the construction team building the expansion of the North Tower that will open a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and brand-new Labor and Delivery care spaces, emphasized the importance of the unit’s care like family approach: “This is a team that goes the extra mile, not only in a clinical sense, but also how they genuinely cared for us as patients. That relationship and trust really matters.”

As experienced parents, Karleigh and Will came into their second birth with a plan. “The hospital is very mom and baby friendly,” Karleigh said. “They were ready and accommodated us as best as they could.” Will praised the team’s communication and respect for their choices. “They were great with explaining to us how labor was progressing, they gave us options and then let us decide,” he said. “There wasn’t any pressure one way or the other.”

Throughout their stay, the couple was struck by the seamless coordination among departments. “No one has come in where we had to explain what’s going on,” Karleigh said. “They all come in knowing exactly what’s going on with me. The continuation of care between shifts has been so easy.”

As they celebrated the healthy arrival of their “big boy” — all 21 inches — Karleigh and Will expressed their deep gratitude for the team that helped bring him safely into the world. “They were wonderful,” Karleigh said. Will added: “Everyone was fully invested making sure Karleigh and the baby were safe, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.”
