Port St. Lucie, FL — HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital announced the opening of its new women’s care expansion, featuring a state‑of‑the‑art Level II neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), completely redesigned labor and delivery rooms, two dedicated obstetric operating rooms and a three‑bed obstetric emergency room to provide mothers, babies and their families a safe, seamless and comforting birthing experience, all on one integrated floor.

The new floor on the hospital’s expanded North Tower reflects the hospital’s ongoing commitment to meet the needs of a rapidly growing community, while elevating the standard of maternal and neonatal care on Florida’s Treasure Coast.

The brand-new Level II NICU is staffed by neonatologists, neonatal advanced practice registered nurses, neonatal nurses and respiratory therapists who are experts in the care of premature infants and newborns who need specialized monitoring or treatment. The unit is designed to support babies requiring advanced care without separating them from their families. The Level II NICU is expected to advance to Level III later in 2026.

The floor’s modern labor and delivery suites expand the hospital’s maternity capacity to support the area’s growth. Each room is designed with patient comfort and safety in mind, blending advanced clinical capabilities with a warm, family‑centered environment.
To further enhance safety and readiness, the expansion also includes:

  • Two dedicated obstetric operating rooms for scheduled and emergency C-sections
  • A three‑bed OB emergency room providing fast, specialized evaluation and treatment for expectant mothers

With all services on the same floor, mothers and babies benefit from reduced transfers, faster response times and a more connected care experience.

“We designed this space with families’ needs at the center of every decision,” said Corey Lovelace, chief executive officer of HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital. “By bringing these vital services together on one floor, we’re not only improving safety and efficiency, but also creating an environment where families can feel supported from the moment they arrive until they return home together.”

HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital’s expansion of the North Tower also includes 35 medical surgical beds on the fourth floor, which opened to patients in November 2025, to support an increase of patients seeking access to the team’s award-winning minimally invasive surgery and orthopedic care.
