Joint care services we offer
Our orthopedic surgeons are experienced in performing advanced joint replacement procedures, using the latest techniques and technology. They work alongside a multidisciplinary team of nurses, therapists, and support staff who guide and support you at every step — from preparation through recovery.
Joint replacement surgery
Normal joints are covered by a smooth layer of cartilage, which prevents your bones from rubbing together. Over time, conditions, such as arthritis, serious injury or degenerative joint disease, can wear down the amount of cartilage, which causes pain and the bones to rub together.
When more conservative treatments, such as therapy and injections, are ineffective, joint replacement surgery is a viable option. During surgery, the damaged bone and cartilage are removed and replaced with artificial ones. The materials used in joint replacement surgery are designed to allow artificial joints to move just as your own joints would.
Hip replacement
Depending on your condition, you may be a candidate for either a total hip replacement, partial hip replacement or hip resurfacing. The most likely candidates are those with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, bone tumors and hip pain that prevents walking, bending or doing daily activities.
Knee replacement
If you have severe knee damage, a knee replacement may be necessary. Following knee replacement surgery, we have seen that you should typically experience dramatic pain reduction.
Shoulder replacement
Whether you’ve dislocated your shoulder, tore a ligament or are experiencing the pain and discomfort of tendonitis, our skilled orthopedic surgeons can help heal your shoulder injuries and get you back to the activities you enjoy.
Joint Camp
HCA Florida Lehigh Hospital offers Joint Camp — a relaxed, informative class designed to help joint replacement patients feel confident and prepared for surgery. You’ll learn what to expect before arrival, on the day of surgery, and throughout your recovery. Our care team will guide you step by step, answering questions and helping you prepare for a successful outcome.
