What is a Patient and Family Advisor?

A Patient and Family Advisor partners with our hospital team to help improve patient experience, quality, and safety. Advisors share their personal perspectives and work alongside care teams to ensure care is compassionate, patient-centered, and responsive to the needs of our community.


What do Patient and Family Advisors do?

Patient and Family Advisors help by:

  • Sharing experiences and ideas to improve the patient and family experience
  • Participating in discussion groups or advisory councils
  • Reviewing patient education materials and discharge instructions
  • Identifying opportunities to improve quality, safety, communication, and care delivery

Advisors collaborate with doctors, nurses, leaders, and staff to help shape meaningful improvements.


Who can be a Patient and Family Advisor?

You may be a Patient and Family Advisor if you are:

  • A patient or family member who received care at HCA Florida Palms West Hospital within the last five years
  • A local community member interested in improving healthcare
  • A staff colleague who is passionate about patient- and family-centered care
