Learn when to consider joint replacement surgery at a free community education seminar
Hernando County, FL — HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital invites the community to Joint Pain: when is it time to consider a replacement, an interactive educational session to learn about conservative treatments to joint pain and when to consider joint replacement surgery.
The session, presented by board-certified orthopedic surgeon Michael J. Higgins, DO, will be held on Friday, September 19 from 2:00pm – 3:30pm. Dr. Higgins will answer questions from the audience following the presentation.
Approximately 25% of Americans suffer from knee pain and 10% of Americans report hip pain, estimates the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Both knee and hip pain are leading causes of loss of mobility and impact quality of life.
Dr. Higgins hopes to share options for treating joint pain and when to opt for a surgical procedure. “Treating joint pain starts with non-surgical options, including physical therapy, injections and other therapies,” he said. “I work with patients to manage symptoms medically as a first line of treatment. However, sometimes joint replacement is the best long-term solution to help people manage their pain symptoms based on each person’s individual condition.”
The community talk will take place 2:00pm – 3:30pm. Friday, September 19, 2025 at Heritage Pines Country Club, located at 11524 Scenic Hills Blvd, Hudson, FL 34667. RSVP by calling (844) 630-5295 or visit our “Classes and Events” tab to register online.
Classes can be scheduled by visiting the Classes and Events area of the HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital website.
