Hospital team collects food for community
Sarasota, FL — Nurses, colleagues and volunteers who serve at HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital and HCA Florida Venice Doctors Emergency collected non-perishable food items throughout the month of November. Close to 300 pounds of cans, boxes and bags of shelf-stable food items were donated. At Venice Doctors Emergency, the community was also invited to drop off their donations and almost 100 pounds were collected there. All the food was donated to All Faiths Food Bank, which serves those in need in Sarasota and DeSoto counties.
“Caring for others doesn’t stop at the front doors of our hospital or emergency rooms. Each year in November our colleagues ask to do a food drive; it’s simply part of who we are. I’m so proud of their generosity and compassion,” said Joe Rudisill, CEO of HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital.
The local effort in Sarasota and Venice is part of HCA Healthcare’s Healthy Food for Healthier Tomorrows Food and Nutrition campaign. HCA Healthcare hospitals across the country donate food or financial contributions to support access to nutritious food in the communities we serve.
