Fort Walton Beach, FL — HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital and HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital joined HCA Florida Healthcare hospitals across the state throughout July to participate in the organization’s first statewide We Show Up for Our Schools month of service.

In partnership with the Okaloosa County School District and United Way Emerald Coast, HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital and HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital collected more than 3,000 supplies for students and teachers in our community ahead of the new school year.

Supplies — which were donated by hospital colleagues and community members – included backpacks, crayons, markers, pens and pencils, colored pencils, erasers, notebooks, paper, scissors, folders, binders, glue and glue sticks, tissue and hand soap.

“It’s crucial that both students and teachers are able to start the new school year off on the right foot with the supplies they need,” said HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital CEO Zach McCluskey. “Our mission is to improve more lives, and we’re proud to contribute to our local educators and children, so they can focus on teaching and learning.”

“Our community and colleagues never hesitate to show up in big ways – whether that be through hands-on volunteer opportunities, fundraising efforts or donating their own money to important causes,” said HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital CEO Todd Jackson. “We’re grateful to have that kind of support behind impacting the people we serve.”

As Florida's leading healthcare network, HCA Florida Healthcare is committed to creating healthier tomorrows for communities across the state through volunteering time, making charitable donations and partnering with other organizations. In March 2023, nearly 2,000 volunteers from HCA Florida Healthcare hospitals showed up at 64 community partner organizations to recognize the first anniversary of the HCA Florida Healthcare brand and to donate both time and money to important causes.
